Editorial Wedding Photography in Paris: A Different Kind of Photographer

Paris has no shortage of wedding photographers (which you probably already know if you're reading this). What it has very few of are photographers who approach a wedding the way a fashion photographer approaches a shoot: with intention, a distinct visual language, and an eye shaped more by editorial photography than by bridal tradition.

That is the work I do.

I am Bonnie, a Paris-based editorial wedding photographer working in both film and digital. My approach to Paris wedding photography is rooted in fashion, movement, and architecture. The images I create are bold, refined, and cinematic, designed to feel timeless rather than trend-driven, and to look as alive in twenty years as they do today. If you have ever looked at a wedding photograph and thought it looked more like a magazine spread than a wedding album, that is what I am working toward with every couple I photograph in Paris.

Film Photography for Paris Weddings: The Heirloom Difference

I photograph Paris weddings using a hybrid approach: digital for the precision and flexibility that a wedding day demands, and 35mm and medium format film for the texture, depth, and quality that cannot be replicated digitally.

Film photography adds something intangible to wedding photography. A subtle grain. Gentle, luminous highlights. A sense of permanence that makes images feel like they were always meant to last. Couples who choose film wedding photography in Paris often describe the results as feeling nostalgic for a moment that has only just happened, and that is exactly the feeling I am after.

My work is inspired by the great fashion photographers, by the way they use light, compose space, and direct their subjects to reveal something true rather than perform something expected. I bring that same sensibility to every Paris wedding I photograph, whether it is an intimate civil ceremony at the Mairie, a small elopement at the Musée Rodin or the Palais Royal, or a larger celebration at a luxury Paris venue.

Paris Wedding Venues Where I Work Best

Paris is one of the most photographically rich cities in the world, and knowing it intimately is part of what I offer. I regularly photograph Paris weddings and elopements at:

The Musée Rodin: The gardens offer a rare combination of sculpture, greenery, and Haussmann architecture that photographs beautifully on film. One of my favourite locations for editorial portrait sessions after a ceremony.

The Palais Royal: The colonnades and geometric garden create strong architectural compositions that suit a fashion-forward editorial approach perfectly.

The Tuileries Garden: Expansive, elegant, and endlessly versatile. The light in the Tuileries in late afternoon is unlike anywhere else in Paris.

The Ritz Paris and Place Vendôme: For couples who want the full luxury Paris wedding experience, the Ritz and the surrounding Place Vendôme offer grandeur and architectural drama in equal measure.

Le Meurice and the luxury hôtels particuliers of Paris: Gilded interiors, ornate ceilings, and the kind of spaces that make even simple moments feel significant.

The Mairies of Paris: Paris civil wedding ceremonies deserve to be photographed as carefully as any other part of the day. The ceremony rooms of the Paris arrondissement Mairies, with their painted ceilings, red velvet chairs, and tall windows are among the most architecturally beautiful spaces in the city.

Beyond Paris, I also travel throughout France for destination weddings and elopements. If you are planning a celebration outside Paris, in the Loire Valley, Provence, the Dordogne, or elsewhere I would love to hear about it.

"We couldn’t have asked for a better photographer to capture our elopement in Paris. Every photo feels timeless and perfectly reflecting how special that day was for us. Thank you Bonnie for giving us such beautiful memories of our day in Paris."

What Editorial Paris Wedding Photography Actually Means

The word "editorial" gets used a lot in wedding photography. Here is what it means in practice when you work with me.

It means I am thinking about each image as an intentionally composed frame, not a record of what happened, but an interpretation of how it felt. It means the location, the light, and the movement of the day are all active ingredients rather than background details. It means I am as attentive to a particular quality of afternoon light falling across Haussmann stone as I am to the moment you exchange rings.

It also means I direct couples with the eye of a fashion photographer: gently, intuitively, and always in service of making you look and feel like yourself rather than a posed version of a couple at a wedding. Many of my couples tell me they felt completely at ease in front of the camera, often for the first time. That ease is what allows genuinely beautiful images to happen.

The couples who tend to connect most strongly with my work are those who have a strong visual sensibility: who have a moodboard, or a clear sense of the aesthetic they are drawn to, or simply know that they want something that feels different from typical wedding photography. It doesn't matter what your comfort level in front of the camera is, leave that to me. All I ask if that you are not afraid to dream a little differently.

"We’re so grateful for all the beautiful wedding photos - they’re absolutely stunning. You captured such natural moments between us, and your talent turned them into something truly artistic. We feel like we’ve discovered a new side of ourselves that we’ve never seen in any other photos before. We also had such a great time shooting with you because of your warm and charming personality."

The Couples Portrait Session: Where the Editorial Photography Magic Happens

Every wedding I photograph includes dedicated time for just the two of you: away from guests, away from the timeline, and entirely present with each other in Paris.

This is not just good photography practice, it is genuinely one of the best parts of the wedding day. Couples consistently tell me that the portrait session, usually an hour or two carved out before the ceremony and family moments became one of their favourite memories of the day itself. A private walk through Paris, in your wedding clothes, with the city as your backdrop and nothing to do except be together.

It is also where the most editorial, fashion-inspired images come from. The ceremony is documentary. The family moments are about memory. But the couples portrait session is where intention, light, and location converge to create something genuinely cinematic, the images that will hang on your walls.

Film and Digital: A Hybrid Approach to Paris Wedding Photography

I photograph every Paris wedding using both digital and film cameras, and the balance between them shifts depending on the light, the venue, and the moment.

Digital gives me precision and reliability: the ability to work quickly in a dark ceremony room, to capture a fast-moving moment with confidence, to deliver a complete and consistent set of images across the full day.

35mm and medium format film gives me something else entirely. Grain that feels organic rather than processed. Highlights that bloom softly rather than clip harshly. A quality of colour, particularly skin tones, that digital photography has never quite replicated. Film slows me down in the best possible way, making each frame more considered and more intentional.

The result is a set of Paris wedding images that blend the reliability of digital with the heirloom quality of film, edited with a consistent, cinematic look that feels timeless rather than tied to any particular trend or year.
